About us

Can we do better? is a volunteer project. We map bias-motivated incidents around the world because we believe they should not go unseen.

Why we do this

Every day, people worldwide are being targeted for who they are. Sometimes it happens through hurtful remarks, other times through real violence. We believe this doesn't have to be the case, and that a world without prejudice is a vision worth fighting for.

Can we do better? We think so, yes.

Who we are

We're just a group of people who are united by the same values and a hope for a better future. People who sacrifice their time and money for a common cause. People who want to make an impact in the real world, however small.

What we stand for

Everyone deserves to live in peace, without being targeted for their race, their faith, their gender, who they love or where they come from. That's the whole reason why this project exists.

We also do our best to keep the map factual. Every incident links to its original source(s), so you can read and judge for yourself. If you find an issue with an incident, please suggest a correction!

Help us do better

Since we don't run ads, we rely on donations from like-minded individuals. Hosting the website, manually reviewing flagged cases and scanning news outlets takes money and time. If you can afford to help and would like to see this project keep going, please consider a donation.

Every contribution helps keep this project alive and independent.
